Anthony Jenkinson

Anthony Jenkinson was an English explorer and merchant who was born in 1529 in the small village of Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, England. He was the son of a yeoman farmer and was educated at the local grammar school. He was a keen student and developed a strong interest in geography and navigation.

At the age of twenty-one, Jenkinson joined the Muscovy Company, a trading company that was established to trade with Russia and the Baltic states.
