Vasili Pronchishchev is a Russian military leader and statesman who is best known for his role in the Russian Civil War. He was born in 1881 in the village of Krasnoyarsk, in the Russian Empire. He was the son of a peasant family and was educated in the local school.
At the age of 18, Pronchishchev joined the Imperial Russian Army and served in the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905.
